August 6th ~ Novena Prayer in Honor of Our Lady of Peace
DAILY OPENING PRAYER:Mary, our Mother, Queen of Peace, we pray for your help as we meditate on violence of word and action in families, communities and among nations. Through your maternal love, show us how to follow those teachings of your Son Jesus, His apostles and the prophets that will convert us to nonviolent love and draw us into the kingdom of God. Amen
LEADER: Help us to remember the ordinary people who were killed by our nation's atomic bombing of Hiroshima, Japan this day in 1945.
Pause for silent meditation.
(Isaiah 2:4) God will rule over the nations and settle disputes for many peoples. They will beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks. Nations will not raise sword against nation, they will train for war no more.
ALL: Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it know, that anyone who fled to your protection, implored your help or sought your intercession was left unaided. Inspired by this confidence we fly unto you, O Virgin of virgins, our Mother. To you do we come, before you we stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not our petitions, but in your mercy hear and answer them. Amen
