Pope Paul VI
In his Sunday, August 5, 2007 general audience at Castel Gandolfo, the pope's summer home, Pope Benedict XVI remembered Pope Paul VI who died August 6, 1978, on the Feast of the Transfiguration: “The solemnity of the Transfiguration remains linked to the memory of my venerated predecessor, the Servant of God, Paul VI, who in 1978, here in Castel Gandalfo, completed his earthly mission and was called into the heavenly house of the Father. His memory invites us to raise our eyes to heaven and to faithfully serve the Lord and the Church as he did in the difficult years of the last century.” Pope Paul VI
"Somebody should tell us, right at the start of our lives, that we are dying. Then we might live life to the limit, every minute of every day. Do it! I say. Whatever you want to do, do it now! There are only so many tomorrows." ~ Pope Paul VI
