Thursday Novena Prayer

LEADER: Help us to remember the pain suffered by ordinary people from the atom bombing of Nagasaki, Japan, near the Catholic cathedral, this day in 1945. Let us also remember today the entrance into heaven of Edith Stein, St. Teresia Benedicta of the Cross, from Auschwitz in 1942.

Pause for silent meditation.

(Matthew 5:43-44) You have heard that it was said: Love your neighbor and do not do good to your enemy. But this I tell you: Love your enemies, and pray for those who persecute you.

ALL: Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it know, that anyone who fled to your protection, implored your help or sought your intercession was left unaided. Inspired by this confidence we fly unto you, O Virgin of virgins, our Mother. To you do we come, before you we stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not our petitions, but in your mercy hear and answer them. Amen
