Novena Update!
FRIDAY, AUGUST 10th
LEADER: Help us to remember the ordinary people in Iraq, Afghanistan and Darfur who have died, have lost their homes or have fled to another country to escape death.
Pause for silent meditation.
(Luke 9:58) The foxes have holes, and the birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to rest his head.
ALL: Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it know, that anyone who fled to your protection, implored your help or sought your intercession was left unaided. Inspired by this confidence we fly unto you, O Virgin of virgins, our Mother. To you do we come, before you we stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not our petitions, but in your mercy hear and answer them. Amen
SATURDAY, AUGUST 11th
LEADER: Help us to be mindful of the times when we express strong feelings using abusive language.
Pause for silent meditation.
(James 3:2b) A person who commits no offense in speech is perfect and capable of ruling the whole self.
ALL: Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it know, that anyone who fled to your protection, implored your help or sought your intercession was left unaided. Inspired by this confidence we fly unto you, O Virgin of virgins, our Mother. To you do we come, before you we stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not our petitions, but in your mercy hear and answer them. Amen
SUNDAY, AUGUST 12th
LEADER: Help us to be mindful of the times when we allow anger in ourselves or others to grow, and we do not seek reconciliation.
Pause for silent meditation
(Matthew 5:23-24) If you are about to offer your gift at the altar and you remember that your brother has something against you, leave your gift there in front of the altar, go at once and make peace with him, and then come back and offer your gift to God.
ALL: Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it know, that anyone who fled to your protection, implored your help or sought your intercession was left unaided.
